The First Chronicles Of Druss The Legend: First Published in 1993.
Synopsis: While the immensely strong but socially awkward young axeman, Druss, is felling trees in the woods near his village, a party of slavers raid the settlement, killing many and abducting most of the young women, including Druss’s wife, Rowena, who is possessed of mystical powers. Mortally wouded in the attack, Druss’s father directs him to the hiding-place of the mighty battle-axe, Snaga, once wielded by his grandfather, Bardan the Slayer. Druss sets out to pursue the slavers and rescue Rowena, encountering the hunter Shadak, who is also hunting the slavers, so they join forces. Thus begins the epic tale of how Druss came to be the Legend, involving fearsome enemies, brutal warfare, steadfast companions and powerful forces of evil but the greatest threat faced by the mighty axeman is the growing darkness and lust for bloodshed within himself.
