Their quest is complicated by the sadistic sorceror Garen-Tsen, the true power behind the Gothir throne, who also seeks the gems for his own glory, leading to a desperate battle between a Gothir army and a handful of Nadir, led by Talisman and Druss. The novel explores themes of friendship, honor, and the fight against bigotry and hatred, as the characters confront their greatest fears in the pursuit of a heroic cause.
